New York is full of amazing hotels. Well, its full of amazing everything to be fair, but its hotels are particularly special. So when a new hotel like The Marmara Park Avenue opens its doors it needs to match, if not outdo the competition, and we are thrilled to confirm that is does exactly that.
From the moment we arrived, we decided we never wanted to leave. Located on Park Avenue, it arguably lacks the 'edge' that other downtown hotels boast but more than makes up for it with its chic interior and exceptional rooms. The lobby, reception and bar area are effortlessly cool, with a laid back minimalist design that gives the hotel an edge that its Park Avenue address requires it to have. The staff are remarkably attentive and went above and beyond their duties by offering to go out and bring us food to make up for the fact that the kitchen and room service were not yet available; a level of service, and dedication to visitors, that will set them apart from the rest of the New York hotel scene.
The whole spa area actually is fantastic, most notably the steam room. They may not have the largest pool in the world but they make up for it by having the largest wet room we have ever seen, which during a very hectic fashion week was a total life saver. Located in the basement, the spa and treatments they offer provided a much needed and tranquil escape from the busy and chaotic nature of the city outside.
What we loved most was the self containment aspect of the rooms. Our room not only had one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in, but also a fully functioning mini kitchen. Regardless of whether you use the kitchen, having it in the room creates a feeling of home, which instantly makes you feel more relaxed, and therefore comfortable. Obviously we cannot comment on the food, as previously mentioned the catering had not been fully set up, but if the quality of the complimentary continental breakfast is anything to go by, it is going to be amazing. We cannot wait to go back and try it!
