About a year ago we had lunch in New York with our great friend Mr Ed Barry, and over lunch he told us about his dream of opening a New York style coffee shop back home in London. Well, fast forward a year, and he has done just that!
Over Under Coffee opened its doors about 3 weeks ago, just opposite the busy Earls Court Tube station, and it is rapidly becoming not just a local favourite, but somewhere that people are flocking to from across the city. The reason? Well not only are Ed and his team the most charming bunch of people you could ever hope to serve you in a café, but the coffee they are serving, and the food that goes with it, really is mind blowing.
Coffee shops pop up all the time, and with caffeine giants such as Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero, the competition is really tough. However, small coffee shops are often massively overpriced, and the food in the bigger cafés and chains, is underwhelming, and boring! Not so here, Ed and his team have some up with a healthy and inventive menu that can cater to everyones needs, without being ridiculously expensive. The fact that the food is inexpensive does not, however, mean the team have cut corners in regards to the quality! Most of the food is made in house, from products brought from the famous Borough Market, as well as coming from a farm near where Ed grew up in the Cotswolds. The café itself is striped back, with a simple yet comfortable and cool design scheme, we really can not recommend it enough!
Ps If you guys go, make sure you say hi to Ed and tag us in your pictures!
